Getting Here to Lake Winnipesaukee

Getting here to Lake Winnipesaukee is easily done. Most people drive from various places. Many people come from further away and would prefer to fly. Some may even decide to take a bus. Either way, going on a vacation in the lakes region of New Hampshire is worth the visit.


I have provided information on the best way for you to get to the lakes region of New Hampshire. You'll find driving directions to the Lake Winnipesaukee area if you're traveling by car; airlines information if you're looking for flights to New Hampshire; and information on New Hampshire bus travel.






By Car


If you're driving to reach the spectacular Lake Winnipesaukee region, I've provided directions to getting here in the downtown Weirs Beach area.

  • From the South

Take Route 93 North until you reach exit 20 in Tilton, NH.

At the end of the ramp take a left onto Route 3 east (Laconia Road.)

Continue for about 5 or 6 miles.

At the Route 3/Route 11 interchange - take a right onto the bypass (a mini-highway.)

Continue until the end.

At the end of the bypass take a right onto Route 11 West.

Continue until the 3rd stop light.

Take a right onto Route 3 (Weirs Blvd.)

At end, take a left and then a quick right onto Lakeside Ave.

  • From the North

Take Route 93 South until you reach exit 20 in Tilton, NH.

At the end of the ramp take a left onto Route 3 east (Laconia Road.)

Continue for about 5 or 6 miles.

At the Route 3/Route 11 interchange - take a right onto the bypass (a mini-highway.)

Continue until the end.

At the end of the bypass take a right onto Route 11 West.

Continue until the 3rd stop light.

Take a right onto Route 3 (Weirs Blvd.)

At end, take a left and then a quick right onto Lakeside Ave.

  • From the West

Take Route 4 East.

Bear left onto Route 11 East (go approx. 10 miles.)

Take a left onto Route 3 East.

Continue for approx. 11 miles.

At the Route 3/Route 11 interchange - take a right onto the bypass (a mini-highway.)

Continue until the end.

At the end of the bypass take a right onto Route 11 West.

Continue until the 3rd stop light.

Take a right onto Route 3 (Weirs Blvd.)

At end, take a left and then a quick right onto Lakeside Ave.

  • Or if you take Route 89 from the West:

Take Route 89 East until the end.

Take Route 93 North until you reach exit 20 in Tilton, NH.

At the end of the ramp take a left onto Route 3 east (Laconia Road.)

Continue for about 5 or 6 miles.

At the Route 3/Route 11 interchange - take a right onto the bypass (a mini-highway.)

Continue until the end.

At the end of the bypass take a right onto Route 11 West.

Continue until the 3rd stop light.

Take a right onto Route 3 (Weirs Blvd.)

At end, take a left and then a quick right onto Lakeside Ave.

  • From the East

Take Route 4 West for about 4 or miles.

Take Route 16 (Spaulding Turnpike) which is a toll road.

Get off at exit 15.

Take a right onto Route 11 (Farmington Road.)

Follow Route 11 (approx. 30 miles.)

Take a right onto Weirs Rd. (Route 11B.

Just after the 3-way intersection (with only 1 stop sign), take a right onto Lakeside Ave.


By Air


There are a few choices to getting here by airlines. The Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) is the main airport in New Hampshire. Most flights arrive there.


Airlines Serving Manchester-Boston Regional Airport:


Some people fly into Logan Interrnational Airport (BOS) in Boston, MA and drive the two hours getting here in the lakes region of New Hampshire. Logan accommodates the international flights. You may also be able to find a less expensive or direct flight into and out of Logan.

In addition, Laconia, NH has a small airport where some private airplanes fly into. They also have chartered flights. For more information, you can contact Emerson Aviation directly at (603)293-7980 or 1-800-808-2687.


By Bus


For those who are getting here to the Lake Winnipesaukee area that would rather take a bus, Concord Trailways has a great bus depot in Concord, New Hampshire. They provide car rentals or can get you a taxi to reach your final destination.
