January 2010 Newsletter Issue #009

In this issue:

  • Winter fun around Lake Winnipesaukee

  • All about skiing

It's already January and winter is flying by.  The snow has been great, until the rainstorm hit.  But we'll get more snow and the winter fun will continue as usual.

There are so many things to do.  The fishing derby, the sled dog races and the new Sno Bowl at the NH Motor Speedway!  Check out all the local current events.

I've been trying to update Lake Winnipesaukee Travel Guide on a regular basis.  This season, I've been focusing on downhill skiing.  There are so many new pages with more to come.

For the benefit of everyone, I've added pages on various skiing tips such as, skiing safety tips, trail ratings, tree skiing, being a polite skier, how to ski on crowded trails, how to fall, skiing in foggy weather as well as the skier's responsibility code.

Plus, I've included fun pages on Gunstock and their Adaptive Ski School as well as different ski conditions you'll come across in the season.

It's been fun writing about skiing this year.  I started writing about Ski Magazine and plan to write so much more including the history of skiing, ski vacations and equipment.

There just isn't enough time in the day to get to everything I want to write about.  I still want to tackle cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and ice fishing in more depth before the winter ends.  Not sure if that will happen.

When spring arrives, I know I will want to switch gears and focus on warm weather activities.  For now, enjoy the season and happy skiing!
